The Nutcracker and Mouse King - Paperback

About this item

by E. T. a. Hoffmann (Author)

On Christmas Eve, a little girl's favourite toy comes magically to life to battle a monstrous seven-headed foe. The Nutcracker and Mouse King is one of the best-loved fairy tales ever written.

First published in 1816, this enchanting story of dreams, toys, and midnight wonder inspired Tchaikovsky's immortal ballet and has delighted readers for more than two centuries. Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann (1776 - 1822), the Königsberg-born jurist, composer, and giant of German Romanticism, blends whimsy and shadow in a tale as strange as it is beautiful. This is a handsome collectable edition for grown-up admirers of a Christmas classic.
